Futuristic design of the Mercedes-Benz Vision V

This concept sets the direction for the next generation of the V-Class while simultaneously opening a new chapter in the world of premium passenger vans. By announcing the modular electric VAN.EA (Van Electric Architecture) platform, the brand has effectively confirmed plans to expand its lineup of high-end passenger-and-cargo models—from family “buses” to prestigious VIP shuttles. Particular emphasis is placed on Private Lounge–style configurations, and the most luxurious versions are rumored to debut under the iconic Maybach sub-brand.

Vision V doesn’t look like an abstract styling exercise. It’s a fully functional showcase of a new approach to private mobility for affluent clients. Entry to the cabin is via a right-side sliding door with power operation and an LED-illuminated step. Inside, it’s immediately clear this isn’t a typical minivan: the space is arranged as a lounge, and the driver’s area is separated from the passenger compartment by electrochromic glass with adjustable transparency.

The finish is on par with the top tier of bespoke transportation: genuine Nappa leather, silk, and precious woods with burl patterns. Side niches trimmed in polished aluminum provide storage for personal items—bags, accessories, gadgets. Housed there as well are components of a powerful audio system with 42 speakers and Dolby Atmos immersive sound. Some speakers are mounted on elegant brackets and even protrude from the side panels, creating a cinema-like sense of presence.

The center console can adapt to the seat positions. The seats themselves feature a tubular cushion structure, electric adjustments, and recline almost flat. The console integrates a touch panel for multimedia and a folding table that can double as a chessboard. The attention to detail is deliberate: every element serves comfort throughout the journey, which is critical for today’s premium segment.

The interior’s biggest wow factor is a retractable 65″ display hidden in the floor. Seven projectors create the image; split-screen mode is available, as is full immersion by using the side windows as additional surfaces. Seven interaction modes are offered: gaming, movies, online shopping, work, karaoke, and more. Up front, the driver and front passenger get the signature triple Superscreen cluster combining instrumentation, multimedia, and navigation.

The Vision V’s exterior differs sharply from current Mercedes-Benz production models. The front end features a faceted grille made of more than 200 glass elements with individual illumination. Around 190 similar “vials” line the leading edge of the hood between the headlights. At the rear, a light strip surrounding the tailgate glass incorporates the brake light. The lighting architecture underscores the model’s futuristic character and status.

Sales of vans on the VAN.EA platform are slated to begin in 2026. At launch, these vehicles will feature a suite of driver-assistance systems at SAE Level 2. By the end of the decade, the company plans to introduce full SAE Level 4 autonomy for driverless travel within designated zones. The lineup is expected to include front- and all-wheel-drive variants, a new infotainment platform, an 800-volt battery, and a built-in 22-kW AC onboard charger. This architecture is intended to deliver both driving range and high charging speeds.

In the end, the Mercedes-Benz Vision V is more than a precursor to the brand’s electric minivans. It’s a cohesive vision of future private mobility where luxury, digital services, and autonomy come together in a single space.
