In the United States, retiree Dennis Thompson breathed new life into an old 1928 Ford Model A pickup. This antique vehicle was completely converted into an electric car. Blogger Paul Shinn covered the unusual project — he not only examined the car but also took it for a test drive.

Instead of the standard 3.3-liter gasoline engine with 40 horsepower, the pickup is now equipped with a 90-horsepower electric motor producing 230 Nm of torque. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes about 5 seconds — an incredible result for a vehicle nearly a century old. Remarkably, the original 3-speed manual gearbox has been preserved and continues to work with the new electric drivetrain.

The vehicle uses five battery modules with a total capacity of 33 kWh. They are distributed throughout the body: under the hood, in the frame, and in the rear. The range is approximately 160 km, which is more than enough for daily driving or weekend cruising.

It is worth noting that despite the modernization, the car remains visually original. All body elements, chassis, and even the cable-operated mechanical brakes are in place. Driving such a car, according to Shinn, is a unique experience: quiet and powerful, yet with the distinct handling of a late-1920s Ford. He also noted that the braking distance remains "at 1928 level," so high speeds require caution.
