The first details and photos of the new ID. Buzz by Volkswagen

Debut of the new model ID. Buzz from Volkswagen is scheduled to take place on March 9, 2022, but some details and specifications have already appeared. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle proudly shared key information before the model's launch. The first thing to start with is that there is a practice of conducting long-term tests in real operating conditions. The ID.Buzz was no exception and performed well on the roads of various European cities such as Hamburg, Hannover, Paris, Barcelona, London, Amsterdam and Copenhagen. Cars undergoing such tests are always covered with a special "camouflage" paint to "hide" the external features of the car before the official presentation. But despite this "rainbow" color, we can now evaluate the appearance of the body and the exterior of the car. The first thing to notice is the visual division of the car's design into "upper" and "lower" parts, as well as the typical V-shaped design of the front. ID.Buzz is planned in two body styles - for 5 seats (minibus) and in the form of a cargo van. Another version with a longer wheelbase is planned for 2023. But the standard ID.Buzz base is 2 m. 98.8 cm, and the length is 4 m. 71.2 cm. The wheels will also be available in two versions - 18 and 21 inches with tires with a diameter of 75 cm. In the minibus version there will be a luggage compartment with a volume of 1121 liters, and in a van - 3.9 cubic meters. The ID.Buzz will be rear-wheel drive and come with an 82 kWh lithium-ion battery. This will be enough for a 150 kW motor, but the manufacturer has kept the range of the car a secret for now. As for the maximum speed, it will be limited by the manufacturer to 145 km/h. An interesting novelty will be the function of two-way charging of the car. It provides the ability to accumulate energy from the built-in solar panels while driving and spend it when needed. Thus, the car balances and chooses the best power source for itself, depending on the weather and the hour of the day. Another important advantage is the ability to remotely update the software of various systems, including charging functions, driver assistance, and the infotainment system. Among other things, the car received an excellent automatic parking system - Trained Parking, as well as the Car2X system, which warns of danger near the car. The Travel Assist system, which provides partial automated control using crowdsourced data, has also proven itself well. As the developers announce, the first release of this car is scheduled for the first half of the year, but the novelty will arrive to European customers no earlier than September. Also, sales of this model are planned to be established for the US market. Well, let's wish them success.
