Mercedes-Benz has opened a new MANUFAKTUR studio space in Sindelfingen, expanding its individualization program and highlighting the strategic importance of this direction. The new facility is part of a larger complex where traditional craftsmanship meets modern digital technologies, further cementing the plant’s status as the global hub for luxury car personalization.

The MANUFAKTUR program, which brings together expertise in textile finishing, leatherwork, interior detailing, and unique paint applications, has entered a new stage of development. Customers can now not only configure their vehicle in the Center of Excellence but also watch their ideas come to life inside the new studio space. Exclusive trim elements are installed by hand, while modern digital tools — from the MO360 system to a digital twin — allow each stage of production to be tracked and even adjusted at the final stage.

Special attention is given to the latest innovations: for the first time, a flexible matrix assembly system has been introduced, enabling personalization of up to 20 vehicles per day, regardless of series. Autonomous transport systems move cars between nine production clusters, ensuring maximum flexibility in the workflow. Complementing these innovations is the unique PixelPaint technology, which works like an inkjet printer and allows for multilayer patterns and intricate designs to be applied with the highest precision.

For clients, this means even more freedom of choice in exterior colors and interior finishes. Beginning in 2025, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class will be available with an extended range of exclusive MANUFAKTUR shades and options, with Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Maybach models to follow. MANUFAKTUR’s popularity is growing rapidly — in the first half of 2024 alone, more than 30% of premium-segment Mercedes-Benz vehicles were ordered with MANUFAKTUR personalization.

Thus, MANUFAKTUR remains a symbol of craftsmanship and bespoke luxury, while Sindelfingen strengthens its role not only as the “home” of the S-Class but also as a leading center for creating truly one-of-a-kind Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
