Sounds like a provocation or a scam — but a video has indeed surfaced online showing a car that looks strikingly similar to the Bentley Bentayga, with a price tag of just $2,500. Is that really possible? Turns out, the truth is not so simple — but it’s not entirely fake either. This isn’t a British luxury SUV, but a Chinese replica created by Weihai Yilin New Energy Technology from Shandong Province. It’s a kind of mini-version of the Bentayga, mimicking the shape, headlights, and even the signature grille. At first glance — especially from the front — it’s hard to tell the difference. But as you get closer, it becomes clear: this is not a premium off-roader, but a compact electrified hybrid with a highly simplified design.

The car measures just 3850 mm in length, making it closer to a city EV than a full-size SUV. It’s built on a basic plug-in hybrid system: a 5-hp (3.5 kW) electric motor drives the front wheels, while a gasoline generator is used solely to charge the battery — it’s not connected to the drivetrain. Top speed is 45 km/h, and charging takes 8–10 hours from a standard household outlet.

The interior is trimmed in faux leather with decorative stitching, and features a digital display instead of a traditional instrument cluster, power windows, and even a roof-mounted fan. Equipment levels may vary by version, but the core idea remains: to offer a “premium look” at minimal cost.

The price of $2,500–3,100 USD sounds more than tempting — and thanks to this affordability, these cars have already begun to be exported outside of China. For example, bloggers in Uzbekistan are reviewing the “mini-Bentley.” From the outside, these cars truly catch the eye: two-tone paint, round headlights, a wide grille, chrome accents — it all looks premium. But peek inside or hit the gas — and the illusion quickly fades.

This is not a vehicle for highways or long-distance travel. Rather, it’s a city microcar or “adult toy” that looks impressive but is built strictly for slow-paced urban driving. In dense traffic and on a tight budget, this replica might be an unexpectedly fun alternative.
Buying a real Bentley Bentayga for $2,500 is, of course, impossible. But getting a car that looks almost like one — that’s entirely real. And that’s exactly why this Chinese copy is making waves online.
